Peasants and Workers Demonstrate Before CM of Bihar


The peasants and agricultural workers of different districts of Bihar province rushed Patna, the capital of the province on 27th March last to state their plight and demand the measures to be taken by the provincial government to provide at least some relieves in their pitiable condition. The leaders of All India Kisan Khet Mazdur Sangathan (AIKKMS) in course of their campaign among peasants and agricultural workers had highlighted the problems they were facing and had inspired them to get organized and build up movement. They gathered at Get Public Library campus and started their demonstration in the form of massive procession before Chief Minister of Bihar. They were shouting thunderous slogans against anti peasants and anti people policies of the governments-whether it provincial or union. They were holding in their hands placards, festoons and banners inscribed their demands.Their demands included waiving of all kinds of loans of farmers, one and half time more the support price of the cost of production of the crops, proper compensation to those farmers whose maize did not bear grain, yearlong employment to all agricultural labourers, rupees 500 daily wages to agricultural labourers, permanent solution of the problems of flood and drought and protection of crops from wild animals.

 A five member delegation headed by Ashok Kumar Singh, Secretary, AIKKMS, Bihar State Committee, after submitting a 11 point charter of demands to the representative of the CM of Bihar warned the government to intensify the movement if their demands were not fulfilled within a stipulated time. Shankar Ghosh, General Secretary, AIKKMS, Arun Kumar Singh, Secretary, SUCI (C), Bihar State Committee, Krishnadeo Sah, Lalita Kumar Ghosh, Indradeo Ray, Yogendra Ram and others addressed the peasants and agricultural workers sitting on Dharna.
