SUCI (Communist) Protests the Steepest Hike in Petrol Prices

Patna, May 24:
Under the auspices of SUCI (Communist) Patna District Committee the effigy of PM Manmohan Singh was burnt amid the thunderous slogans and a short meeting was held here at Patna Junction Roundabout on Thursday against the steepest hike in petrol prices.
Addressing the people gathered on this occasion the speakers said, “This hike would bring more misery to the people reeling already under acute price rise of essential commodities.” Terming UPA government out and out anti people the speakers said that the government had decontrolled the prices of petrol in June 2010 in the interest of domestic and foreign oil companies to reap maximum profit. “The rate of petrol has been increased by more than Rs. 35 in three years tenure of UPA-2 government,” said the speakers. The speakers termed this exorbitant price hike an attractive gift (!) from the UPA-2 government after completing its 3 years. Condemning the hike in petrol price all the speakers demanded to the UPA government its immediate rollback. They also demanded to the state government to decrease the prices of petrol withdrawing its taxes.
The meeting was addressed by Shivlal Prasad, M. K. Pathak, both State Committee Members, SUCI (Communist), Baidyanath Sharma, Rajkumar Chaudhary, Anil Kumar and Anamika, all Patna District Committee Members of the organization.
