Public-private-partnership is the synonym of privatization and commercialization. Whether it is Congress led UPA government in central or Nitish government in the state claiming good governance -both have converted the education a saleable article. The scope of education has been limited to a handful of people. A powerful movement is the need of the hour to have opportunity of education for every citizen of the country. The aim and object of education has been shifted from man making, character building to earning profit. The expenses for the MPs, MLAs and bureaucrats as well as police and military budgets are going up where as funds for education in school and university level is being cut drastically. The governments are shrinking their responsibilities for proving education to citizens. The educational scenario in the state in blinking with shortage of teachers, lacking of books, chemicals and equipments in libraries and laboratories in schools and colleges. In this backdrop the All India Democratic Students’ Organization organized All Bihar Students’ Conference in the state capital, Patna from 16-17 December, 2011.
The open session of the conference was held as a protest demonstration against educational problems before CM, Bihar on 16th December, 2011. A well decorated procession with colourful festoons was taken out from Gandhi Maidan and converged at R-Block traversing the main thoroughfares of the city, where after blocked by the police the open session was held. The students coming from different corners of the state braving the biting cold were shouting thunderous slogans on educational problems. The discipline, the struggling mentality manifested in the participants attracted the city dwellers. Under the president ship of Sadhana Mishra, president, Bihar state Committee, All India DSO the open session was addressed by Arun Kumar Singh, senior member, Bihar State Committee, SUCI (Communist); Subrato Gauri, vice president, All India DSO; Jharna Malaviya, president, Uttar Pradesh State Committee and member, national council, All India DSO; Suryakar Jitendra, secretary, Bihar State Committee; Anamika and Umashankar, both vice presidents, Bihar State Committee; Anil Kumar, secretariat member, Bihar State Committee.
On the next day the delegate session was held at Anjuman Islamia Hall, which was inaugurated by Prof. Ishwari Prasad, the renowned economist and Retd. Professor of JNU. Addressing the student delegates he said that on the one hand the country is suffering from acute unemployment and suicide of thousands of farmers, the governments are claiming growth and development on the other. Saurav Mukherjee, General Secretary, All India DSO in his address discussed the different attacks coming down on student community. Swapan Chatterjee, senior member, Uttar Pradesh State Committee, SUCI (Communist) and former General Secretary, All India DSO said in concluding speech that student movement on the basis of correct ideology was the only guarantee to save education. Discussing on aim and object of education he said the ruling class of today wanted to smash the education and culture so that students and youths cannot raise their voice of protest.
Ravi Kumar Singh, Jyoti Kumari, Vijay Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Shubham Kumar, Mahendra, Parwez Alam and Nikolai Sharma spoke supporting the main resolution moved by Anil Kumar, secretariat member, Bihar State Committee. Suryakar Jitendra, secretary, Bihar State Committee moved the organisational report which was in the main supported by Ashutosh Kumar, Saroj Kumar Suman, Shyam Kumar, Pinki Kunari, Puja Kumari, and Pannalal Kumar. Both the main resolution and organisational report was passed unanimously. The session was conducted by a presidium comprising Sadhana Mishra, Anamika, Uma Shankar and Arvind Kumar.
At last a 36 member strong state committee was elected unanimously with a pledge to build up powerful student movement in the state with Suryakar Jitendra as president and Anil Kumar as secretary.
