SUCI (Communist) protests exorbitant price hike of Petrol in Patna

Patna, May 15:

SUCI (Communist) burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in protest against the petrol price hike at Patna Junction Roundabout on Sunday. SUCI (C) workers were shouting thunderous slogans against the exorbitant rise in the price of petrol.

After burning the effigy a meeting was organized at Patna Junction Roundabout. Addressing the meeting the speakers said the price of food items and the essential commodities are sky-rocketing. The price hike of petrol would make the life of the people miserable. Since Congress led UPA Government returned in power in May, 2009, petrol prices have gone up by over 50 per cent. In the last one year alone the increase is of 3o per cent. The speakers said this is the seventh time in 11 months that petrol prices have gone up. Condemning the UPA government for petrol price hike the speakers demanded to roll back the increased price. Those who spoke on the occasion were Manikant Pathak and Shivlal Prasad, both State Committee Member, SUCI (C), Sadhana Mishra, Secreatry, Patna District Committee, SUCI (C) and Suryakar jitendra, Member, Patna District Committee, SUCI (C).

Procession and Rally on May Day

Historic May Day was observed here on Sunday. Under the auspices of Central Trade Unions like AIUTUC, AITUC, CITU, HMS, TUCC, AICCTU a huge procession of workers was taken from Radio Station and conversed as a rally at Patna Junction Roundabout. Different trade union leaders including Arun Kumar Singh, President, AIUTUC, addresed the rally.

SUCI (Communist) observes its 63rd anniversary

A mass meeting was held under the auspices of SUCI (Communist) Bihar State Committee to mark its 63rd anniversary at IMA Hall, Patna on Sunday. The meeting was addressed by Ranjit Dhar, member, Politbureau, SUCI (C) and presided over by Shiv Shankar, Secretary, Bihar State Committee, SUCI (C). 

SUCI (Communist) burns effigies of Obama,Cameron and Sarkozy in protest of military intervention on Libya

Under the auspices of SUCI (Communist) Patna District Committee effigies of US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolus Sarkozy were burnt here to day in protest of the military intervention on Libya. Condemning and strongly opposing the military offensive launched by the NATO forces led by US imperialists on Libya on the pretext of ending the violence of autocratic Gaddafi regime against innocent civilians and extending full support to the Libyan people’s movement against the most despoticright-wing dictatorial Gaddafi rule as well Shiv Shankar, Secretary, SUCI (Communist), Bihar State Committee, said on this occassion, “ It is the task of the oppressed people of Libya to decide the kind of governance they intend to have in their motherland and the US-led imperialist sharks have no propriety to meddle into the internal affairs of that country through such a large scale military intervention using UNO as a rubber stamp.” He further added that the plans for war by US imperialists and their NATO allies were motivated not by any desire to protect the Libyan people and further the cause of democracy but are solely purported to capture the rich oil fields of Libya, install a puppet regime there and suppress democratic struggles in that region.

After burning effigies a street corner meeting was held in which speakers demanded in one voice to immediately stop the attack on Libya. The meeting was addressed by Shivlal Prasad, M K Pathak, both State Committee member, Baidyanath Sharma, Suryakar Jitendra and Anil Kumar.

Bihar, India: People’s movement stalls the construction of an asbestos factory

The people’s protest against the construction of asbestos factory on fertile agricultural land in the densely populated area of Chainpur-Vishunpur village under the Marwan blocin Muzaffarpur district in Bihar has added a new chapter in mass movement. The lesson regarding asbestos in textbooks helped the people to become aware of the hazardous aspects of asbestos; as a result they decided to protest the construction by forming an instrument of protest, ‘Khet Bachao Jiwan Bachao Jan Sangharsha Committee’. Fearing the intensification of the protest, the administration as well as the factory owner started suppressing the movement. Two important leaders — Tarkeshwar Giri and Kumud Ram — were put behind bars. Police used batons, teargas shells and opened fire on the peaceful agitators on three times while injuring dozens of people — including women. After the brutal lathi charge and firing on 22 January, 2011 the govt of Bihar was compelled to pass an order to stop the construction work. But still the govt policy has not been declared to prohibit asbestos factories.
