Talk on “Global Economic-Cultural Crisis and Marxism”



Patna, April 29:
The All India Democratic Students’ Organization Bihar State Committee organized a talk on “Global Economic-Cultural Crisis and Marxism” on Sunday here in Patna University at History Department Seminar Hall. Com. Krishna Chakraborty, Member, Polit Bureau, SUCI (Communist) was the main speaker.
In course of discussing on the topic Com. Krishna Chakraborty said, “No more development is possible through individualistic and capitalistic culture begetting from capitalistic economic system. Collective culture, proletariat culture on the basis of social thinking is the need of the hour for further progress of the society. So long as capitalism exists, cultural and moral degradation along with economic backwardness bound to persist. To day we need new culture, new values and new morals formed on the basis of collective interest and collective ownership free from individualism.”
He said that capitalism in its dying and decaying stage had become reactionary loosing its revolutionary and progressive role of its advent. It was unable to advance the society further. “Culture, politics, philosophy, values and morals are deteriorating as these are all super structures of capitalist productive system based on private ownership.” Referring Marx he said that production in the field of thinking, philosophy, knowledge, science, culture took place along with material production in society, which is called spiritual production. “Production in society connotes both the production-material and spiritual. Every person in a society relates with other persons with production relation,” he continued.
The Polit Bureau Member of SUCI (Communist) said in replying a question that state and government was not the same. State constituted of police-bureaucracy, army and judiciary while government was the conductor of state. Without changing state, culture could not be changed. It was utmost necessity to change the capitalist production system based on private ownership with a blow of revolution. “Making success the anti capitalist socialist revolution under the leadership of the real communist party by gradually building up mass movements against the burning problems of people’s life is the prime necessity,” he emphasized.
Presiding over the function Prof. Bharati S. Kumar, HOD in History, Patna University said that Marxism was a science. Economic reasons were dominated in society. Marxism was an instrument for real development of human civilization. Prof. Santosh Kumar, Prof. Tarun Kumar, Vikash Rahi, amd Nandkishore Singh were mainly present at the talk.
